Family with Down Syndrome Child Meets John McCain and Sarah Palin
September 9, 2008
… CALLER: Hey, listen, Rush, longtime listener, first-time caller, one of those Bible, family, gun clingers from western Pennsylvania.
RUSH: Thank you.
CALLER: And I wanted to share a story with you. A week ago last Saturday we went to the Palin-McCain rally in Washington, Pennsylvania, was the day after he announced her, and we have a five-year-old daughter with Down syndrome, and we made a sign that said: “We Love Kids with Down Syndrome.” So when they pulled in in their bus the sign did catch their, McCain and Palin and the rest of their family, it caught their eye, we could tell, they gave us a thumbs-up from the bus, so we were all excited just by that –

Hello Everyone,
As many of you known we had to change the way we did our Buddy Walk this year due to the current state of our economy. We chose to instead have an informal gathering of friends and a BBQ. We had several families show up to walk our usual route in support of Down syndrome awareness. The kids had a great time playing at the playground, feeding the ducks in the pond, and gobbling up lots of hot dogs and cookies. It was a great time had by all. We also had a generous donation of Fresh Baked HUMONGOUS cookies for our event courtesy of “Kelli’s Cookies” in Roseville and her outstanding delivery driver Terry. If you have never had these cookies, I suggest that you do! Please look to the right of our E-Newletter, and soon to come in our photo gallery, and you will find a string of a few photo’s from our event this year. We want to say thank you and that we love your being a part of our team and we are looking forward to seeing you soon!
In support of October’s Down syndrome Awareness Month and the local efforts of the DSIA we also attended their Buddy Walk scheduled for Saturday, October 4, 2008 at Southside Park. We have attended this walk, as well as our own, every year. Many of our friends showed up this year to help us form a team. We had a wonderful time participating in the various activities, listening to the music, meeting Chris Burkes and playing at the playground. Thanks DSIA for another terrific walk! Please check our site for updated photos of this event.
Sincerely,
Heather M. Haskin
