Mathew McClain was honored over the weekend, becoming an Eagle Scout. For more than 23 years, he regularly attended Boy Scout meetings and earned more than the required 21 badges.”I just want to thank my Scout master, and all of my friends,” he said.Scout master Jim Dunne said doctors did not think McClain would live for long.”They asked the family not to take him home,” Dunne said of McClain.State Sen.   1. I am just in tears over this! Our oldest son is 11 and very involved in BSA. Our little guy, John Michael, has Ds and we have hopes of him following in his brother’s and Mathew McClain’s footsteps. Thanks for sharing.

      Thank you for your touching comment. I was very moved by this article as well. I love to see when our children with Down syndrome make great accomplishments and forge ahead, despite what others may try to tell them or what obstacles may come there way. I believe so passionately in the positive potential of our children. If given the opportunity, and the support I believe that nothing is impossible for our children. It is time that we shined a light on the unlimited potential of our children with Down syndrome and demonstrated to our communities that the lives of our children matter and can make a difference!
